Not Alone Concert:
Our testimony
Every time we have a concert, every time we do a seminar, there is always
that moment when the question floods my mind: who asked you to do this
one? The truth is, we have organized numerous concerts. And certainly
many seminars in Nigeria and abroad since 1997. So why the unease?
I
guess it has to do with the fact that we attempted to take on a task
greater than our size, but which God Himself fortunately didn't have any qualms
with. Organizing the last WorshipforChange concert - Not Alone
was a great walk of faith. We walked and this time, we didn't stumble,
because He was with us.
Imagine the support that He made possible! As I started to write this, I was
moved to calculate in monetary terms how much help we got from sponsors
both in kind and cash. It comes to about N3 million! I will like to
thank Protea Hotels (Victoria Island, Virgin Nigeria, Resort Mortgage
bankers, CityScape, Hertz Nigeria, Modamo.com, Nadina Industries Ltd,
Kraft, and our partners and people in our local church, Jubilee
Christian Centre who believed in us enough to sow a seed.
At
the MUSON, we had a extra full hall. Had to bring in more chairs. People
were standing. But the height of the event was the main purpose why were
there, to raise awareness and support for the children at the Hearts
of Gold Hospice. And that we did and the results keep trickling in.
As I write, we have been able to raise about six hundred and fifty
thousand naira
in cash for the organization. That is aside from numerous pledges like
the church that decided to buy them a generator or the lady who runs a
shoe making enterprise who has decided to make shoes for all the children! I am sure
that before the end of the year, that amount will have hit a million
naira in cash. That's a good place to say amen!
If
you were not at that concert and you want to support these once
abandoned, and some of whom are physically and mentally challenged kids,
please do a cheque to Hearts of Gold Hospice. Drop it at 57
Adebola Street, Off Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, Surulere, Lagos.
View
the following pictures of the event. We will post more in the days to
come. Also, in due course we will stream on this page the documentary we
put together to highlight the work being done at Hearts of Gold. In
closing, I leave you with this words by Ruth Smeltzer "You have not
lived a perfect day, even though you have earned your money, unless you
have done something for someone who will never be able to repay you."
